If you are skipping facebook protection and not turning it on, then beware because you will be locked out of your Facebook account for not turning it on. There are some accounts that need to activate Facebook protection along with two-factor authentication. And the deadline was 17 March. According to Facebook the agenda behind this is to secure the accounts of the users while they enable other additional security measures. The message stating this notification is sent via emails to the various users and due to its mysterious and spam appearance they ignored it just like they ignore other emails. The notification said, ” Turn On Facebook Protect to unlock your account.” It further added,” Account locked on March 17, 2022. We’ve taken this precaution to keep your account secure while you enable additional security measures.”
People were not happy with this act of Facebook and went to Twitter to complain about this to Facebook and Team Meta. Not only this, even some of the users who have turned on the Facebook protect feature are not able to access their accounts. Many of them are writing about the inconvenience they are facing through this act of facebook.
Facebook Protect
Facebook says that Facebook protect is a kind of security program specially built for the group of people who have the maximum chance of getting targeted by malicious hackers. These groups of people consist of journalists, government officials, and human rights defenders. The reason for providing their accounts a security feature is just simple and good but the procedure is not what can be expected by Facebook.
Facebook Protect is not a new term in some countries. It was first tested in 2018 and was expanded by Facebook in the 2020 US elections. Then the expansion went global in September 2021. And this act was part of Facebook’s global expansion of the Facebook Protect feature.
How does it work?
Facebook Protect helps those specific user groups to take powerful accounts of security protections. It includes two-factor authentication and monitoring of potential hacking threats. These safety measures are needed by the accounts that are highly suspected to be hacked and misused by the hackers.
