Karachi Blast: According to reports that the blast occurred inside the van close to Confucius Institute in the university the non-profit school that teaches Chinese the language to local school children.

Two Chinese women were among the four victims killed and many others injured on Tuesday after a blast was recorded in a van within the campus at the University of Karachi in Pakistan’s capital city of finance, officials said.

As per reports, the incident was carried out within the van, near the Confucius Institute in the university an institute that is non-profit and teaches Chinese language to local schoolchildren.

Initial information from a trusted police source suggested it was believed that two of the women who were killed in the attack were Chinese nationals, and may be the targets of the attack.

The two other victims included the driver as well as a security guards in the van. Four additional individuals who were near the van when the incident occurred were wounded. The three victims were in critical medical condition, according to the source.

There were contradictory reports regarding the incident, but officer in the police force Muqqadas Haider told reporters that preliminary investigations were underway and the possibility was that it was an explosive device controlled remotely placed inside or close to the van.

Urdu Language Jang newspaper stated that the van was carrying two foreigners who were teaching Chinese in the IBA institute at Karachi University. Karachi University from their guesthouse at the time of the explosion.

Videos of the vehicle that the blast occurred were also shared on social media, with the flames of fire completely destructing the vehicle. Police and paramilitary rangers rushed to the scene and immediately cordoned off the area.

It’s not an isolated incident. Chinese citizens have been targeted by terrorist attacks in Karachi the country’s largest city and economic center.
